Stop Riding The MLM Emotional Roller Coaster
This is a topic that is addressed by very few people in the network marketing arena. I would bet you 10 to 1 that the training plan in your MLM organization does not even mention how to manage your emotions. The sad thing is that emotions plays a huge role in how well we perform in promoting the opportunity – this is particularly true with new people.
The MLM industry is one that is pursued by those who have never owned a business before. From the very beginning, they lack the skills and discipline necessary to succeed in this business. They suddenly find themselves way outside their comfort zones and what’s worse, they are fighting the enormous emotion known as the fear of failure.
When this happens, their entire existence depends on each and every lead they get. Not really of course, but to them it feels that way. They start seeking that elusive secret of success that everyone else has but them. Every dollar spent on marketing becomes a gamble, every call not returned becomes personal. Pretty soon, the one event will occur that will cause them to quit altogether.
What do you see in this scenario? What you see is that emotions are running the whole show. Does any of this sound familiar to you?
The big problem is there are no feelings of abundance. What you have to understand is that your abundance mentality is exactly what you need to attract recruits, to attract earnings, and to attract overall success in your business.
To enhance your chances of success in the network marketing industry, you must dump your emotions. You have to get to the point where you feel no differently when a prospect joins your team or when they reject your opportunity. The first thing you have to do is not take it personal. Not everyone is cut out for MLMs and the very last thing you want is something who will not perform well – that’s a waste of everyone’s time and money.
The next thing you can do is put business in terms of numbers and conversions. This will depersonalize the whole process. And if it is depersonalized, then it won’t hurt your feelings. Look at it in terms of I have to approach 25 people to get one good lead. Or I have to mail out 100 sales letters to 5 responses into my autoresponder. With this information, you will know what to expect and you can then work on improving your numbers.
In conclusion, just remember that your emotions will absolutely sink you in the MLM business if you don’t control them. Put everything in perspective and you will become a great success in no time at all.
